A professional women's soccer team will be established in Phoenix as one of the initial clubs in a new national league. The USL Super League is expected to launch play in August 2024 as a Division I sanctioned league under U.S. Soccer, with 10-12 teams competing in the first season, according to an announcement Tuesday from the organization. Plans call for bringing in expansion teams in later seasons. The Phoenix team will be led by the Phoenix Rising FC ownership group along with prominent local businesswomen and community leaders, the league said.
